The Ford Escape is a compact SUV and has been around for a number of years, but has been upgraded for 2009 with better engines and has been very reliable and gets top marks for safety. It's even designated as a "Top Safety Pick" by the insurance institute. The Ford Edge is a midsized SUV so it is quite a bit bigger than the Escape and it is more "modern" looking as it is a newer design. It is also much less fuel efficient and costs much more. They are both good SUVs but your decision should be based on how big a vehicle you need and is the larger size worth the extra purchase price and fuel costs. Good luck on whatever you decide.
